Russell Butkiewicz
Senior Project Manager, Architecture
Biography
With over 10 years of experience in the field of Architecture, Russell serves as a Senior Project Manager at HLZAE. He works on detailed leak investigations, thorough construction documents, bidding, and executing restoration construction administration services. Additionally, Russell assists colleagues with expanding their knowledge and understanding the bigger picture of any project.
Russell’s experience includes the Façade Restoration at the Plaza Hotel, a multi-phased project on a local and national landmark. The project recently involved removing the deteriorating 15th floor balcony in its entirety. At the Gramercy Spire on 142 East 16th Street, Russell is working on a Roof replacement project as water infiltration is being observed into the parking garage space below. The existing garden terrace roof was originally envisioned by Shogo J. Myaida. The garden goes beyond the typical pavers and benches while incorporating the Asian motif with plantings, enclosed pagoda, and landscaping that combines hard and soft-scapes. Russell and his team will be providing the board and building with an updated landscape scheme at the same time the roof assembly is being replaced. Russell also led a Façade and Roof Restoration project at 167 Bowery. The scope included parapet rebuilding, a roof replacement, atypical built-up lintel rehabilitation and replacement, and a custom skylight. Additionally, Russell and his team scoped masonry and pointing replacement with a prescriptive façade cleaning treatment.
Russell earned a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering at the University of Hartford and a Master’s of Architecture at SUNY Buffalo.
