Jurgen Gjoka serves as an Associate Director at HLZAE, where he plays a pivotal role in establishing and fostering relationships with clients, spanning commercial entities, investment firms, residential and commercial boards, and property management firms. Jurgen’s responsibilities include designing mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, producing plans for new and renovated developments, conducting feasibility and investigation studies, providing support to legal teams in litigation cases involving engineered and faulty work, forensics engineering as well as managing and providing training for internal teams at HLZAE.

Jurgen’s recent unique project involved the re-development of 124 Columbia Heights, a distinctive Brooklyn waterfront landmark building converted into high-end residential units. He designed and managed all of the engineered systems within the building as well as oversaw project administration from inception to completion.

Among other projects under his purview, Jurgen designs and manages re-developments and building electrifications in their entirety. With a sustainable and energy efficient approach, as well as constructability, he often employs hybrid mechanical systems with state-of-the-art VRF & cogeneration to be able to reach some of the lowest carbon emissions on what would otherwise be relegated as standard “older” buildings in NYC.

Of late, Jurgen has spearheaded HLZAE’s initiatives concerning Local Law 97, also referred to as the Climate Mobilization Act. He has authored the firms first “Preparedness reports” for Local Law 97 and focused on educating both new and existing clients on methods to comply with the forthcoming 2024 and 2030 emissions requirements for New York City.

Jurgen holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning from the New York Institute of Technology.
