HLZAE’s Latest Additions

Ebony Scott joins us as the new Operations Administrator. After completing her MBA at Strayer University with a concentration in Construction Contracts, she was excited to find a position that would allow her to pursue her passion for architecture and engineering. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York where she still resides and loves every minute of it. Ebony finds it refreshing to see how many of her Brooklyn neighborhoods have developed over the years.

Asfand Javaid joins us as a Project Associate. His previous experience includes working in the contracting industry as a Project Manager. He’s worked in both, general and mechanical contracting and a notable project was the Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery, where he performed general contracting. As a native New Yorker, he appreciates maintaining the vintage, rugged aesthetic of the city; especially in a time when there’s so much new construction going on.

Nicole Martin joins us as a Project Associate. She is a New York native who has worked on Exterior Restoration for almost the last decade, ranging from the beautiful, landmarked terracotta facades to the hazardous sidewalk vaults. She has also had the opportunity to volunteer with the Peace Corps working in Albania on Ottoman Era castles, and homes.

Mel Jumangit joins us a Special Inspector. He is originally from island of Cebu in the Philippines, where he worked as a Civil Engineer.  Mel came to New York just five years ago with no connections and has been enjoying every second so far. He’s excited to see what HLZAE has in store for him.

Aqib Bhatti joins us as a Project Associate. He graduated from New York City College of Technology and was working at Kossar + Garry Architects since graduation.  Previously, his father owned an exterior waterproofing and restoration company, where Aqib was fortunate to spend many summers on site. 

Vincent Astarita joins us as a Senior Project Manager. He went to work at a jobsite shanty for a superintendent after high school, who taught him to read plans between sweeping floors, answering phones, while witnessing and documenting the construction of a 20-floor high-rise apartment building.  Inspired by the experience, he went to college to study architecture and graduated from Pratt.  He brings 25 years of experience in all aspects of the building and construction industry.  

Bobbi Finkelstein joins us as a Technical Associate. She recently graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in Architectural Studies and minors in Geography and Italian. Born and raised in Oakland, California, she is new to New York City and is looking forward to getting to know it better.
