HLZAE Inspires the Youth

Earlier this month, HLZAE had the wonderful opportunity of participating in a career exploration week via SEO Scholars and ArchForKids. Lauren Printz, Leon Geoxavier, and Margaret Hovorka spent their time at Baruch College with rising 10^th grade scholars, teaching and engaging them in the field of architecture.

The students were lead through the design process of an architect, which included a group project where they designed and built a model of a residential structure according to specific client briefs. The program also included an introduction to the field through Q&A Panels with Leon and other professional Architects, as well as current Architecture college students.

Providing the younger generation with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the built world leaves us with a tremendous feeling of satisfaction. To that end, we look forward to continuing to inspire local students to pursue careers in the architecture industry. With a deep admiration and respect for New York’s buildings, we see no better way to secure the future of our city than by fostering the hands of those who will continue to build and repair it.
