Getting to know Pragya Adlakha

Pragya Adlakha, Operations Associate is known for her ambition and diligence at HLZAE. She is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the MEP Department. Some of her typical job duties include proposal scoping, generation, and distribution. With over 15 years of experience, she supports projects at pre-construction, construction, and post-construction project phases. Pragya also plays a role in onboarding new employees to the Mechanical Team assisting with the internal process and standard, as well as driving initiatives to standardize and create efficiencies within the department. In addition, she frequently spends her time coordinating with the team, contractors, and often clients.

What makes Pragya’s role unique is she is the only dedicated administrative resource within the department. Her role provides the opportunity to be an initiative-taker and have stewardship over her work and environment while collaborating with departments in the firm. The best part of her job is working alongside driven and quick-minded people who keep her energized. She feels that every day presents an opportunity to gain experience from everyone on the team.

When asked about choosing her profession, Pragya says, “the profession chose her.” Pragya unexpectedly began working at an early age with one of the largest Fortune Top 10 companies in the world located at Gurgaon, India. She worked there for a decade in a variety of roles, related to customer service, and financial services & accounting divisions. Pragya moved to the US a little over five years ago, and after a long search for the right job, she decided to start fresh and began working in a small studio engineering firm. She landed the position after arriving for an interview on the ninth floor of the Bennett Building, where she quickly learned about its cast-iron façade. Both iron and the number nine have personal significance to her, so she immediately interpreted it as a sign and accepted the offer. Her inner monologue consisted of telling herself to unlearn all of what she learned. Since then, she became intrigued with learning more about the AEC Industry, which eventually led her to HLZAE.

Outside of HLZAE, Pragya enjoys all things mystical, including astrology. When she steps out into the world, she loves taking long walks, exploring different cuisines and neighborhoods. She also appreciates indoor or slow-paced activities such as yoga, reading novels, arts and crafts and visiting museums and exhibits. After her workday is over, she makes time for her family, which includes her baby. Being a new mother has become a job in itself, but Pragya wouldn’t change it for the world.
